Who doesn't love to read a great metaphor? And who doesn't love chocolate? Yes, as a matter of fact, the two are related—metaphorically speaking. A well-crafted metaphor makes an engaging and often instructive connection between two unrelated objects. You read one and your eyes are opened. You're enlightened. You get a pleasant—if fleeting—sensation. You might read the metaphor again a few times, and let it roll around in your head, enjoying that connection. This all happens

The more I learn about writing, the more I’m fascinated by it. Putting pen to paper—or fingertips to keyboard—to engage an idea can seduce you. It can also drive you nuts. Each piece of writing defines its own path. To the author the quest inspires. Its horizon offers hope. But occasionally, the route falls into shadow, the trail forward turns gnarly, and the words that would pave the way are strewn and seemingly out of reach. Man, you gotta love an adventure like that.
